Now some of my readership may know that I have a bit of a taste for the big stacks of paper glued together with some shitty graphic art slapped on top called "books", and since all powerviolence music sounds the same (let's b fuckin honest here for one second ok) I decided it was time for a change up, a remix, a switcheroo if u will. Now, please, open your minds to my horrible opinions and let us dive into some of my personal favorite books produced by humans so lesgetit!

Alright first off, numero uno, one of my personal all time favorite books in my library's gonna have to be a bit of a cult classic written by one of my personal heroes and das Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism by my man Vladimir Lenin
Wow, what can I really say about this one? Such an inspiring read, full of wisdom for the children of tomorrow, and quite an insightful look into the capitalist situation of one hundred years ago and how we literally predicted where we'd today! No seriously read it trumpf is in this shit u just gotta read between the lines. Btw did u know that ever since the introduction of a Eurocentric global banking system we've continually centralized resources into the hands of the smaller and smaller bourgeiose class and succumbed to capitalist monopoly prices where parasites continually drain the life from the working peoples and no one gives a single fuck? very interesting point, i think. O also this book is free online and das awesome.
Alright up next on dis shit we got an absolutely nessary read, one of my all time faaaaaaaaavorite books, Ceremony by Leslie Marmon Silko!
Ho-lee shit folks, they don't make books like they used to lemme tell u. Closest in my memory was Tanya Tagaq's Split Tooth but I get enough furry accusations as it is so maybe we'll save that one for another day. Seriously though this book is absolutely beautiful, cannot recommend it enough, must read for every person who wants to say they know anything about america, an absolute trip. U kno that feeling u get where u get high without even doing drugs, like eating food that's spicy af or pumpin gas in ur car and spillin it all over ur shirt? Das dis book right here. Also it's total evidence to the racism of our society; a book about a WWII veteran goin around with his douchebag drinking buddies, breaking property laws, re-igniting high school rivalries, and having out-of-body experiences with strangers in the desert and white ppl still aren't interested in indigenous narratives? Man fuck all yall!
Numba 3, never trust no-body, yo moms'll set that ass up, properly gassed up, it's The Big Aiiieeeee! edited and collected by the four horsemen of Asian American literature. One of my absolute FAVORITE reads, I'd force everybody to read this book if I could. O wait, I run a blog, I can do that!
Now between this and the original Aiiieeeee! I coulda picked either one but as all men know well bigger is always better. Plus this one opens with a seventy page rant by Frank Chin and includes some beautiful beautiful artwork done by Taro Yashima (the father of the legendary Mako). What else can be said? Well once u read this shit you'll notice your ability to meet the eyes of your desired sexual partners will increase tenfold. Other than that, just a foundational text for this blog and many a great author in this country.
Numbah 4 (fuck this is a long list) is, personally, in my opinion, one of my favorite books, and that's gotta be Wise Blood by the Southern Slayer herself Flannery O'Connor.
There is literally a scene in this book where a ginger kid steals a mummified corpse of a dwarven man from a zoo and hides it under his sink before a fifteen year old girl presents it to the protagonist in a farcical image of the Madonna and Child, resulting in a violent fight where the corpse is defenestrated. That is so fucking hilarious that it has ruined all southern humor for me, and I unironically listen to country music so that's sayin something.
Number 5, my hot pick, my one and only, it's Planescape: Torment!
Yeah it's not a book but like really it is just play it and you'll see exactly what I mean. And while we're talking about this let's get a big FUCK YOU to Chris Avellone, if you're reading this shit right now chrissyboo man wtf is wrong with you. Life ain't like D&D dude it ain't a power fantasy it's about talking with real ass fuckin people and acting like a rational, functional human being and that weirdo predatory behavior is absolute cuck shit. Plus you ruined the Fallout NV canon with introducing fucking Ulysses in that final piece of shit DLC, who's such a goddam idiot that there isn't even an option to legitimately debate him because he has ZERO grounds to stand on. All that said folks honestly I'd be lying to myself if I didn't tell yall that Avellone did design and write one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time. It isn't perfect (female characters in gaming... DX), shit man it ain't even that fun to play, but emotionally, personally, this shit hit me like Sunny Day Real Estate at the age of 13. Everybody who knows me knows that I don't like to act like butter wouldn't melt in my mouth, and that I've made numerous mistakes in my life. I've hurt people who deserved kindness, I've been kind to people who deserve punishment, and I'll continue to do acts of this nature until I reach one with myself and understand compassion for all living things on this Earth and beyond. There's nothing that can be done to undo the wickedness in my life that I've reaped upon myself except wake up the next morning and believe that I can be better.
Now we here at $$CHIANG_MAI_ELVIS$$ don't believe in doing things like goddam cookie cutters, ending our list on a fucked up number like 5. Now 6, that's a good fucking number right there. Any simpleton can multiply by five in morning traffic, give them multiples of six and then you see the separation from the men and the BOYS. Drum roll on number six, it'sssssssssssssssss
...Just kidding, of course. No worries, I'm a good guy. I help people, I like animals and flowers. Ferreal guys it's gotta be Collected Fictions by Jorge Luis Borges.
The ability to derive emotion from where one would suspect none lies is almost a superhuman in my eyes. The fact that my favorite book of all time is a fucking translation should speak volumes to the talent Borges has in constructing narratives and reconnecting the sinews and nerve endings in your MIND to imagine what is LITERALLY unimaginable. Smarter people than me have only scratched the surface of the content of his work, all I will say is that my favorite books come and go but this has been pretty consistently the greatest stuff I've ever read.
Alright this post is pretty goddamn long and idk bout yall but I gota grand vial of tequila to annihilate today. Have a blessed autumn and be sure to leave plenty of catfood out for the strays in your neighborhood okpeaceoutbye
Feel like this list would be better with Annie Dillard. We need more borderline-sadistic Transcendentalism in our lives.
